TikTok integration

An authorized TikTok user can connect their TikTok account to Merist using TikTok’s official authorization / OAuth flow. Merist then uses only the scopes TikTok and that user approve.

Merist does not post to arbitrary TikTok accounts. Publishing and upload actions only apply to accounts that have explicitly authorized the Merist app. Merist does not claim ownership of a user’s TikTok account or content merely because the account is connected.

How connection works

1. The operator starts a TikTok connect flow inside Merist.
2. TikTok presents its official authorization screen with the requested scopes.
3. The TikTok account owner reviews and approves (or denies) those permissions.
4. After approval, Merist can use the granted capabilities for that connected account only.
5. The owner can revoke Merist in TikTok’s account settings at any time; the operator can also disconnect inside Merist.

Requested TikTok capabilities

user.info.basic

Used to identify the authorized TikTok profile and display basic account information.

user.info.stats

Used to retrieve account-level performance / statistical data available through TikTok.

video.list

Used to retrieve the authorized account’s public TikTok video information for content history and performance workflows.

video.upload

Used to upload authorized Merist-generated content to TikTok as a draft for further creator review, editing, or posting where applicable.

video.publish

Used to directly publish authorized content to the connected TikTok profile after the user has granted the required TikTok permissions.

Analytics / performance workflow

Where TikTok has authorized the relevant read/analytics capabilities and the user has connected their account, Merist can organize permitted profile, stats, and video-list information so operators can review how published content performed and decide what to create next.

Currently available where authorized Analytics and read capabilities depend on TikTok’s grant and the user’s approved scopes. Unavailable fields stay blank.

Publishing workflow

Merist HQ implements authorized TikTok Content Posting for connected accounts:

• Authorized analytics where granted (user.info.basic, user.info.stats, video.list)
• Authorized Draft Upload under video.upload after explicit confirmation
• Authorized Direct Post under video.publish after explicit confirmation and creator settings
• Publishing status / results (status + publish_id) recorded from TikTok responses
• Only authorized connected accounts — never arbitrary accounts
• Unrestricted autonomous TikTok publishing remains disabled
• Unaudited Direct Post remains subject to TikTok restrictions (for example SELF_ONLY / private)

Production audit honesty Live Production use of Content Posting scopes depends on TikTok’s authorization of those scopes and the user’s consent. This page does not claim the Production Content Posting revision is approved until TikTok actually approves it. Platform limitations remain authoritative.

Security boundaries

• Authorization happens on TikTok’s own pages.
• Merist does not collect TikTok passwords.
• Access tokens / refresh tokens are handled securely on Merist servers and are not publicly exposed.
• Actions stay within granted scopes on the connected account only.
